Our History

Megan, Mike and Brooke

When originally founded in 1990, Prairiebrooke Arts served the art needs for corporate, professional and institutional interiors in Kansas City. After working with the business community for seven years Brooke decided to expand her business with her husband Mike. In 1997, Prairiebrooke Arts opened a retail gallery location in Downtown Overland Park. Brooke and Mike Morehead coordinated the renovation of a freestanding building constructed in 1928, making the structure one of Overland Park's oldest commercial properties. Originally the home of an Oakland automobile dealership, the building had a 66 year history of serving the automobile industry. Today, this award winning project is the home of a "SOHO" style contemporary gallery that offers a truly exciting art experience and has been described as a "visual delight".

"We opened the gallery with the aspiration of being among the top 10% of galleries nationwide in terms of atmosphere, selection, service and quality framing. Prairiebrooke has a strong commitment to exhibiting artwork which elevates one's senses and promotes beauty and enjoyment of life through color and imagery. After many requests from customers asking for a location in Southern Overland Park, in July of 2003 Prairebrooke Galleries opened an expansion gallery at 13300 Metcalf in the Shoppes at Deer Creek Woods. At that time Brooke and Mike's daughter Megan officially joined the family business after years of growing up around the art business.

With the newest gallery location opening in October of 2006, Prairiebrooke Gallery at Briarcliff Village is our first location in Missouri. Prairiebrooke is located just below Piropos restaurant, situated high above the Missouri River with fabulous views of the Kansas City skyline.
